2020 Park Improvement Project for Riverside State Park

New Trail Markers Guide the Way in Little Spokane River Natural Area

Tucked within Riverside State Park, you’ll find the Little Spokane River Natural Area, which consists of five established hiking trails. As a 2020 donor-selected Park Improvement Project Grant recipient, area staff will be able to incorporate trail markers which will include trail numbers and mileage. The new trail markers when used with the maps, kiosks and brochures for the Natural Area will be the key to easily finding your way along the trails.

“Riverside State Park has never had all designated trails marked with posts allowing users to know their location as they hike or bike. The trails being marked are just a part of a much larger project of making a trail map. The map, which is now completed, shows all designated trails within Riverside State Park, and has the trail numbers that coincide with the posts we will be marking the remaining trails with. These maps will be placed at all trail heads, on kiosks, and are for sale at the park and REI. Thank you Washington State Parks Foundation for the funding!” – John Ashley, Area Manager, Washington State Parks
