Sacajawea State Park - Adaptive Swing Set
Inspired by Kason, a 9-year-old park visitor who loves to swing, Sacajawea State Park wanted to update their swing set to accommodate special needs riders. Washington State Parks Foundation donors helped us bring this dream to reality in 2024.
The new swing set has two swings. One swing provides trunk support and holds riders up to 250 pounds, and the other accommodates toddlers with a seat option for caregivers to swing alongside them. Visitors have been loving the increased accessibility of the swing set—now, more visitors get to have fun at the park.
The swing set is the first public adaptive swing set in the city of Pasco, and the second in the entire Tri-Cities area. Sacajawea is working to increase the accessibility of their park, the swingset being a much-appreciated first step. People of all abilities and ages now use the swings and enjoy the great outdoors at Sacajawea.
