2022 Park Improvement Projects

We provided 22 awards and this year have completed 12 park improvement projects to restore and improve parks, campsites, interpretive centers and trails for your next visits.

The following projects were completed in 2022 and funded by the gifts to the Foundation from donors – people like you – who love parks and want to make parks more welcoming for all.

 
 

South Whidbey Park

The park received new trail building tools from Friends of South Whidbey Park.

Lake Sammamish

Lake Sammamish improves playground area by planting more native plants.
Bridle Trails State Park picnic area

Bridle Trails

Bridle Trails installed a new bulletin board and welcome station with the help of Friends of Bridle Trail State Park.

Fort Worden

Park Improvement Project Grant supports the purchase and installation of bicycle racks.  

Maryhill

Park Improvement Project Grant supports the renovations of the Welcome Center at Maryhill such as the ADA accessible counter.

People will enjoy various fishing opportunities with new fishing gear for the park’s new programs.

Riverside

Visitors can stay hydrated with the new Outdoor Tubular Drinking System at Riverside State Park.

Sun Lakes

Visitors will get the opportunity to take showers with the outdoor body showers at Sun Lakes State Park.

Wanapum

Stay hydrated with the new water bottle filling station at Wanapum State park.

Sacajawea

The Park Improvement Project Grant supports Sacajawea State Park’s new Discovery Center.
Camp Wooten retreat center mattresses in need of replacement

Camp Wooten

Camp Wooten uplifts its atmosphere with new mattresses for campers to enjoy.

Deception Pass

Feel more comfortable at Deception Pass as they add backrests for benches.

Arts in the Parks

Over 20 events were held at 11 parks across Washington to celebrate the cultures and traditions of Washingtonians. From Skandia Midsommarfest to Native American-led educational hikes and Cambodian cuisine, cedar basket weaving workshops, dance and more — visitors discovered and connected to our shared natural, cultural, and artistic heritage.
