Park Improvement Project for Camp Wooten ELC

New Mattresses for Camp Wooten Retreat Center

Sitting in the Blue Mountains of southeastern Washington, Camp Wooten State Park holds the largest Retreat Center in Washington. Every year, eager campers visit the State Park for the overnight Retreat Center! As a 2021 Park Improvement Project Grant recipient, area staff and volunteers will be able to purchase new mattresses for campers to enjoy. These new mattresses will significantly uplift the atmosphere and encourage more people to visit Camp Wooten.

“Most of the 250 mattresses at the Retreat Center were in very bad shape, and I felt they reflected poorly on the cleanliness of our facility. They were all 20 years old or more, but very expensive to replace in full. I am so grateful to get the grant and check this project off of our list. This project directly impacts every guest that stays at the park. We’ve heard great reviews from those who have slept on them thus far. They provide a comfortable, sanitary, and attractive sleeping arrangement for all of the park guests.” -Clara Dickinson-McQuary, Program Specialist, Lewis & Clark Trail State Park.
