We support and promote Washington’s wonderful State Parks by helping raise operating revenues for parks, building a constituency of advocates, supporting education and events, and funding exhibits, trail maintenance, facilities improvements and habitat restoration.

Thanks to our members, we have provided funding for 75 projects in parks across Washington, offering support to every part of park operations. Our annual impact report summarizes our actions to improve, advocate for and connect the public and our supporters to state parks. This is only part of what we do — and we’re just getting started. Together we will do much more.

Improving Parks

We award grants directly to State Parks for improvement projects, including facilities, trails, signs and events. The more our members give, the more we can give.

Friends Groups

We proudly support Friends of State Parks groups throughout Washington. These groups consist of dedicated volunteers who support their local State Park. We offer technological support, serve as a fiscal agent, provide a standing committee to offer advice on staring or running a Friends group, and sponsor a yearly meeting of Friends groups statewide.

Our purpose is to ensure a vibrant Washington State Parks system for generations to enjoy. To do that, we are committed to promoting all of our State Parks as the tremendous assets they are for local communities and our quality of life.

But our voice isn’t enough — State Parks fans and users need to speak up, too. Your parks need you to tell decision makers that you value them. And we want your ideas. Visit our Speak Up page and lend your voice today.

We host and support events in State Parks. We provide primary funding for the annual Arts in the Parks program, a summer series of festivals and concerts that strengthen the cultural identities of Washington’s diverse communities. In 2014 we initiated what has become an annual Outdoor Expo that brings together together outdoor retailers and organizations, children’s groups, live music, games and more to encourage outdoor recreation in our beautiful state parks. We co-sponsor Shellfest events each summer. Check our Events Calendar to find an event near you.

Connecting People & Parks

We develop tools to help residents and visitors better connect with and appreciate Washington’s State Parks. We issue monthly e-newsletters and blog posts to connect our members and the public with the latest information they can use to plan their outings. Our interactive State Parks map allows visitors to see and explore all state parks in Washington in one handy place. Our collection of Virtual Park Tours features user-controlled panoramic images from beautiful Washington State Parks. We actively support and connect park Friends Groups. We also proudly support events in parks across the state.
