You did it! Thanks to all those who contributed, and to our generous donors who supplied matching funds, we met our goal of $10,000 for the 2015 Arts in the Parks Program.
Thank you so much to everyone for your support.
Why did so many people contribute to this program? For a decade, the Arts in the Parks Program has been pursuing the goals of strengthening the cultural identities of Washington’s diverse communities and fostering cross-cultural respect and appreciation for our state’s diverse cultures. These festivals and concerts also promote the idea of Washington State Parks as venues for cultural and community events. The Washington State Parks Foundation has provided funding and support for this program across the state to help connect communities and families to our wonderful parks.
The 2015 schedule includes an amazing range of events, from the Salish Sea Cultural Celebration at Deception Pass on June 6 to Family Dance Month in July at Cama Beach to the Celebrating Cultures Music Festival at Pearrygin Lake State Park in August. At seven different parks, on 14 different dates, attendees will be able to enjoy music, dance, crafts, stories, puppet shows, poetry readings, and more. Participants will celebrate cultures of local tribes, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Tahiti, Russia, Scotland and traditional Americana.
Thanks once again to all who generously contributed. We look forward to seeing you at an Arts in the Parks event this summer.
